Riot is about to stop creating humanoid champions and return to the road of nonhuman ones.
Appearance and plot are the two aspects that make a new champion become the topic of discussions between Riot Games staff and players worldwide. The latest nonhuman champion of LoL was Yuumi and it was the milestone of the humanoid champions’ start. Ryan “Reav3” Mireles – the Manager on the Champions team of Riot posted a poll to decide what our new champion will look like. And recently, he has taken it onto the LoL homepage.
Firstly, the dev team will concentrate on making the best appearance for the champion, which will make it beloved and attractive. Besides, fascinating gameplay is also an essential aspect to make it stick to players.
When those two aspects are perfectly done, the dev team’s work has also been completely completed. One of the most simple ways to do it is to decide them according to players’ ideas. Reav3 also said that their collected statistics showed that most players keened on using humanoid champions. As a result, our two leaked new champions are also humanoid ones.
Designing humanoid champions also makes Riot’s work on their plots easier as they can get inspiration all over the world and bring them into their products. However, lately, players’ opinions seem to be changing a lot as they appear to be sick of humanoid champions and are waiting for real monsters like Kha’zix or Cho’gath. Fortunately, Reav3 confirmed that he would indulge them and as stated by the dev path, this champion will come to light in 2022. Diversity in champions’ appearance is obviously necessary, but one year is apparently impossible for Riot.
