Objective Bounties nerfs were pushed out in an unscheduled League of Legends patch 11.23 update, which is now live in-game, in the hopes of reducing the overall power of the mechanic of season 12.
Since the release of patch 11.23, one major change has dominated the mechanic of the game: Objective Bounties. Through turret kills, Drake and Rift Herald, and other means, this new comeback mechanic is designed to provide losing teams a little extra gold to keep the game going.
However, this feature varies in each game. Sometimes players will be down thousands of gold in a losing game and still receive Bounties, or they are having huge advantages and still receive gold-boost. Fortunately, Riot is trying to resolve the problem.
On November 24, the developers released a micro-patch 11.23 update aimed at limiting the Objective Bounties feature. The issue is it’s reset after turret kills. So if a team managed to know the timeframe, this could “result in some situations where one team would rebound from moderately behind, to far ahead,” Leung-Harrison.
Drake also got an update. This was fixed in the November 24 update with Riot tinkering the AI to better comprehend the situation in order to combat this, which saw the value of Dragons and Souls decrease for computing leads.
“This meant that Objective Bounties could still be active when a winning team had Soul, then started losing, despite a massive lead for the new team.”
While Riot is glad to alter Objective Bounties during the preseason for Season 12, they have stated that they would not comply with League of Legends fan demands to have them removed.
