Mythic Content Overhaul: Prestige Point expires, Mythic Essence arrival

The Mythic Content Overhaul is almost here, and here’s what it means for League players who have been waiting for the new currency, along with Prestige Points and Gemstones

The Mythic Content Overhaul will be implemented in League of Legends in the upcoming patch 12.6, and fans’ cosmetic purchasing experiences will be drastically changed. From spending Prestige Points to Gemstones, here are all the suggestions for preparing for the next cosmetics update.

Prior to the massive update, Prestige Points will expire. Prestige Points, the current method of obtaining Prestige edition of other skins during specific events, are no longer available. On March 24 2022, Prestige Points was permanently removed from players’ inventories. If you still haven’t spent your Prestige Points, then perhaps it is too late to use them now as even if you didn’t have enough points to claim a Prestige skin, you may still redeem them for event rewards bags, icons, Hextech keys, and Orange Essence.

Gemstones will be incorporated into the new system. Prestige Points and Gemstones will both be powered by the same currency, Mythic Essence. Mythic Essence will be added to the Blue and Orange Essences, which may be redeemed in-game for standard and high-quality cosmetics. The new system will be available on March 30, the week after the Prestige Point elimination.

This new approach will attempt to make obtaining Mythic content more consistent by making the currency usable on either Prestige or previously Gemstone-locked Mythic skins.  Ideally, this should increase the frequency with which fans’ plans on converting into unique cosmetics for the champions they care about the most.
