The next patch 12.4 will eliminate Akali’s early-game abuse of HP Regen items
Apart from Support Smite sololane, Turbo Chemtech Akali has been quite an unpleasant meta in recent weeks. This item allows her to be a lot tankier, whilst still do tons of damage. Even this type of play makes use of a highly “toxic” approach of starting item: purchasing 3 Rejuvenation Bead to have high HP regen at the start of the match. As a result, any opponent will have a hard time dealing with Akali.
Essentially, the 3 Rejuvenation Bead purchase in the early stage of the game isn’t something new as champions like Garen, Nasus, Darius can gain benefits from it while still being balanced. However, with Chemtech Akali becoming so popular, this playstyle has gotten more popular than ever before.
Then, recently, Riot Games is forced to modify the item so that it is no longer overused and supports players in having a too safe laning phase due to their strong regeneration.
Rejuvenation Bead:
- Cost increased from 150 to 300.
- HP regen increased from 50% to 100%
Crystalline Bracer:
- Cost increased from 650 to 800
- HP regen increased from 50% to 100%
Knight’s Vow:
- HP regen increased from 150% to 200%
If you don’t know, for the former price (150 gold), players can get 3 Reju Bead at the start of the game. This set of items will provide you with an amount of regen of 12-15 HP per second depending on the champions you’re playing, thus, granting you more advantages in the early laning phase. The regen stats allows champions to go extremely forcefully without the worry of HP loss.
However, with riot’s modification, the means to acquire 3 Reju Bead will be no more since you will only be able to buy one item only. Obviously, in terms of HP regen at the start of the game, the changes will make the item far worse if acquired early. This is a crucial step for Riot to do in order to eliminate a very annoying starting items and restore the Rejuvenation Bead’s natural worth.
