League of Legends has announced a new super server where elite North American players will battle for $400,000 in prizes
Champions Queue, the previously promised high-ranked matching experience for LoL players in North America, will now be available in early February
Riot Games announced around November last year that they will be attempting to improve the NA solo queue by installing a “super server” named Champions Queue. Now, the company has responded to comments from both LCS and Challenger players concerning excessive ping and matching challenges on the NA servers. Champions Queue is a matchmaking server powered by League of Legends for West Coast players through the new integration with Discord.
It has now been revealed that this server will be available on February 7th, with $400,000 prizes up for the best players. This will create a new and high-level competition for North America’s greatest players.
LCS participants, Academy players, Proving Grounds players, and select recent LCS graduates will be able to join the Champions Queue server. Every day between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. local time, players will be able to join the invite-only server to play alongside their most competent opponents, complete with voice chat and the option to collaborate more actively.
Champions Queue will have three seasons: spring, summer, and preseason brawl. The two seasons will be divided into three month-long halves, with the preseason having only one.
Riot Games is attempting to demonstrate that it can listen to the opinions of its professional players, and the new matchmaking is an excellent place to start. The server will go live on February 7th, and the initial season will end on May 23rd. A one-week break is provided between each split in a particular season to allow players to recover.
