Riot Games officially announced the first League of Legends: Wild Rift tournament

This is considered to be the first step in Riot’s journey to create an Esport professional environment for Wild Rift.

Riot Games Southeast Asia yesterday announced the League of Legends: Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series: Preseason. This promised to be the first important step for the potential development of the Wild Rift professional Esports scene in Southeast Asia.

The Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series: Preseason will kick off on February 26th including three-day long weekend tournaments held in seven different locations across Southeast Asia: Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, China Taipei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. It expects to be an arena both for players and the Wild Rift team to showcase their strength and skills and to win the title.

According to Chris Tran, Head of Esports for Riot Games Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, The Southeast Asia Icon Series is Riot’s first step to grow League of Legends: Wild Rift into a regional Esport worthy of players’ passion and skills.

Moreover, Riot has also announced their cooperation with Esports regional partners to host the first Wild Rift series such as Cyber Games Arena, ESL Asia, Mineski, One Up, Eliphant, and VNG. Here is the full list of dates for each regional tournament.

There will be teams invited by the organizers to attend and officially present in the League of Legends: Wild Rift SEA Icon Series.

The full list of the teams, as well as the schedule and the platform to watch the matches, will be announced later.

Summer season

After the preseason, players in the region have the opportunity to participate in the Wild Rift Southeast Asia Icon Series: Summer season, an eight-week competition in which every team can join to compete to be the best in their region and continue to take part in Riot’s pan-regional tournaments to be the first regional champion.
