Riot Games’ Champion Roadmap series of developer blog articles continues, this time highlighting an additional information about League of Legends‘ upcoming bot lane marksman champion as well as indications for the next support.
Lead producer of champions of Riot Games – Ryan “Reav3” Mireles discussed about the next two champions
In the latest Champion Roadmap, Riot Games hints at the next two champions are a marksman from Piltover & Zaun, and a support with a darker tone and a distinctly Ionian look.
The first champion, who is set to arrive early next year, looks to be equipped with a special electrical weapon, as shown in an in-world schematic. This new marksman will be fast attacker with unique auto-attack mechanism.
Lead champion producer Ryan “Reav3” talked about the next AD carry “who has been charging up and is rearing to finally get on the Rift.” The team wanted to create a new marksman that can move constantly, and plays at a “machine gun pace.”
A new support will follow that champion. According to the snippet provided by Riot, it’s supposed to suggest tones of sinister manipulation and behind-the-scenes tugging of strings.
The image component of supports is a feature of champion kit design that is underused. The symbol for this enigmatic figure is in accordance with Riot’s established style for Ionia, featuring ethereal clouds and meticulous craftsmanship.
For a long time, bot lane has been a rather fixed role with the champions, we can see that by many metas using Mages, replacing the original content of “botlaners” in the bot lane. Perhaps these new champions from Riot Games might provide a welcome change of pace for players.
