Riot Games to speed up on banning Bots in League of Legends

For the previous few years, botting has been a major issue; with the latest Akshan incident, Riot Games is finally tackling it

Botting is a major problem in online games, and League of Legends, for example, has its good share of it. However, compared to other games, League’s botting issue was not as prominent. However, botting has developed dramatically in recent years.

If you enter an Ai game, there is a good possibility you may see a bot on your team. These bots either run it down or utilize an exploit like the Akshan E flaw to remain AFK and avoid detection. These drastically degrade the player experience and, in some cases, cause them to abandon the game entirely.

Bots have also been seen much in low-Elo-ranked games. The account-selling websites are to blame for the rise in these bots. These accounts typically utilize bots to level up fresh accounts to level 30 and then sell these accounts for a profit.

Riot Games has already said that they are investigating the issue, however, it appears that botting has not diminished significantly. However, in the aftermath of the latest Social Engineering Attack, Riot appears to be stepping up and mass removing bots.

Riot K3o, a member of Riot’s Anti-Cheat Team, has claimed that they are stepping up their tempo in eliminating bots in League of Legends.  He indicated that they are aware of the present botting problems and are determined to combat them.

“Feel free to DM me any bots you encounter moving forward, particularly if it’s in a non-Co-Op game mode,” he said. Although this crisis cannot be resolved fast, it is a start in the right path for Riot.
