Riot Games teases more insight on Project L

As part of League of Legends’ 10th anniversary celebration in 2019, Riot Games unveiled dozens of new titles and games in the League of Legends universe.  The 2D fighting game, Project L, was one that caught the eye of fans.

Riot has maintained their big marketing train for RiotX Arcane by disclosing details on Project L today, after the final act of Arcane aired.

Riot digs into the details of their next game in a video featuring Tom Cannon and Tony Cannon, the game’s executive producer and technical lead, respectively.

As you all may know by now, Project L is an assist-based fighting game in which a player assembles a team of two champions from a limited selection of League of Legends heroes. The player can bring in a secondary character to help their primary character’s combos, according to the gameplay shown.

Riot Games claims that their design concept is “easy to learn, hard to master”. While Riot wants fans to be able to come into Project L and learn their favorite champion’s basic kit, experienced players will be rewarded for delving further into each champion’s kit.

The developer promises high-quality compensation for lagging opponents, as well as a built-in alternative for toxic players.

The devs were also thrilled to introduce Ekko with parts of his kit being highlighted. The most iconic parts of Ekko’s suit have been maintained in his Project L kit. Ekko has the ability to leave an echo of himself that he can rewind, as well as send forth a Timewinder that charges up before slowing dramatically at maximum power.

Despite the in-depth look, the game still hasn’t been given a release date. Riot promised not to go silent for as long as they did last time, but Project L still appears to be a long way off.
