A fresh new event, slated to launch on July 8, will fill League of Legends with black mist and ruination.
A first peek at the Ruination event was offered in a recent Riot Games teaser. The event appears to be called “Rise of the Sentinels,” and it will begin in July and presumably go through the end of the month. The event appears to be another chapter in the Ruination lore that Riot has been working on since the release of Viego in January.
A new page titled Sentinels of Light has been added to the League of Legends main website. On the page, Viego is seen with his sword and seated on his throne. This is, however, a secret puzzle that Riot had made for players to solve.
Here’s how to unlock the secret and solve the Sentinels of Light puzzle
Puzzle 1
When you click anywhere on the website, it starts a countdown that reads Ruin and then 3, 2, 1 with nothing else occurring. Many people began clicking all around the page before discovering something when they clicked on Viego’s hand on the tapestry.
Puzzle 2
After clicking on Viego’s hand on the tapestry, music from what sounds like a music box begins to play. It’s most likely a music box, as Viego and Isolde are dancing in what appears to be a flower.
After the music from the music box has finished, a search bar appears, asking for some sort of password.
Right then, type in the password: ->8->8->8->8. Immediately, players are sent to another page after putting that in.
Puzzle 3
In the final stage, players are sent to a site that says “Welcome Sentinel.” This one also has a place for players to input another password. Then type in the code: Akshan, which is the name of the upcoming League of Legends champion.
This eventually leads to the new Sentinels of Light image, which displays Viego and the champions who will be joining the Sentinels.
