The legendary T1 player recently gave an interview to KORIZON Esports on August 13 discussing the team’s performance, issues and improvement as well as responsibilities as a public figure and how much fans mean to him

“We had several major internal (gameplay) issues in the recent (weeks)” – Faker
After T1’s 0-2 defeat against LSB, the team recognized several multi-faceted gameplay issues within the team. Fortunately they seem to have found a direction towards resolving these: the key is to not get tunnel-visioned on the result state and instead find the “eye of the storm” that led to such state, and address it
Faker went on to discuss confidence issues within the team. In the past, multiple T1 players have spoken up about their problems with confidence, understandably when they are playing with an iconic player like Faker on a decorated squad like T1 – the expectations are high. However Faker does not think there are any particular issues with confidence within the team, although the loss against LSB has indeed forced T1 to rediscover some self-confidence
“It is our duty to make time for meetings such as Make-A-Wish event” – Faker
Faker along with other T1 members met children with critical illness in hospitals through Make-a-Wish Foundation. The legend recognize that there are many children who look up to and want to meet LCK icons, but critically ill children especially would have more difficulty meeting them, and in turn would benefit more from such meetings. Thus he deems the events one of his duties.
Faker then went on to discuss responsibilities as a public figure and role models to fans.
If I am a public figure – And perhaps I happen to take negative actions. Even if it was a minor slip, it may be viewed as a grave mistake to the public. So it is important for me to maintain good conduct in everyday life
T1 Faker
However, on top of the burden of responsibilities Faker also added that it is his personal belief that if he do good as a public figure it can also have tremendous (positive) impact to his fans. Although he does not get to interact directly with fans much, through media and press, fans continue to become similar to him, be it his good parts or bad parts.
On his part, Faker can continue to feel appreciative towards the fans, and even find some meaning through the process. To close off the interview, he concluded that it’s important to balance 1 for 1 the heavy responsibilities mentioned above with simply enjoying his job
Being the first and only League player in history so far to have claimed the Worlds trophy 3 times, Faker has developed a graceful and mature stance towards his responsibilities as an icon to the community. Young audience have a lot to learn from the man even in the face of negativity such as his touching response to the recent truck protests against T1.
