Despite winning KT, Gumayusi is still upset for not being known as the number 1 botlaner
The most exciting match of the matchday 27/07 of LCK Summer 2022 group stage must definitely be the “telecom war” between T1 and KT Rolster (KT). And, although T1 has been competing with Gen.G Esports for an early playoff position, KT is also on a roll, having won four straight games before this match.
T1 has also met several obstacles in that match-up. All 2 teams still have to drag the match to Game 3 to be able to determine the result. In the end, the victory went to Faker and his teammates after Gumayusi’s shine. The 2002 bot laner was also given the title the Most Valuable Player of the Match after his insane Zeri Pentakill.
Gumayusi exuded confidence while discussing his critical win over KT, which extended his new undefeated streak to 8 and set the stage nicely before T1 had to face Gen.G. In an interview with reporter Ashley Kang, he stated:
“Look I always think that I’m the best bot laner out there. But recently, people had the audacity to say bot laner X is better than me, bot laner Y plays better than me. These public consensuses made me outraged, you see.”
Gumayusi then continued to assert firmly on the eve of the showdown with Ruler:
“The 3 bot laners at the top of the POG standings: Prince, Ruler, Aiming. I realize these 3 bot laners have been getting a lot of attention lately. But I’ve beaten Aiming today. Next it’s Ruler. I need to set the record straight again”
Gumayusi’s confidence is building as a result of his outstanding performance against KT. His opponent ahead is Ruler, a seasoned LCK player. Ruler, like Aiming, is bold enough and experienced enough to avoid mistakes.
The encounter will not be easy for Gumayusi, and he must be careful in order to help T1 win in the end.
