Will DK be able to break T1’s 6-year-long record in the upcoming semifinals?

DK defeated MAD Lions in the third quarterfinal round at the World Championships 2021. DK’s undefeated record at Worlds 2021 now stands at 9 undefeated games at Worlds, thanks to this 3-0 triumph. This is a fantastic achievement for DK, laying an emotional groundwork for the next semi-final versus Faker and T1.

DK is about to break T1’s record at Worlds

It should be noted that when it comes to a record of 9-0 at Worlds, SKT T1 is currently the record holder for the past 6 years. With the most powerful members of SKT T1, Fakers, Bengi only lost 1 match right in the final against KOO Tigers (the predecessor of ROX Tigers) but in total, SKT T1 still won the final.

It is considered the longest winning streak in worlds history when until later, no team has done it, including Damwon Gaming in 2020 (losing 1 group match and losing 2 games to G2 Esports and Suning).

SKT T1 owns the longest winning streak in worlds history at Worlds 2015

DK might officially break SKT T1’s more than 6-year-long record if they maintain their undefeated record in the next two BO 5 chains. And, by a strange coincidence, their first opponent on their goal to break T1’s all-time winning record at Worlds is T1.

If DWG KIA achieves a winning record at Worlds 2021 this year, they would become the first team in league history to have an absolute winning record and the second team (after SKT T1) to successfully defend the World Championship title.

And there are still some formidable opponents ahead of DK, the first of which being T1. However, given DK’s comprehensiveness, LCK supporters may be certain that their team will accomplish new heights at this year’s Worlds.

The upcoming semifinals of Worlds will begin on 30 October and end at 31 October.
