Renata gets a quick review on balancing ideas in case she feels overpowered, especially with her W – Bailout
Renata Glasc is the most recent champion to League of Legends’ growing pool, and she will be the next support to brighten the game’s meta. Renata Glasc will be available along with patch 12.4 on February 16, 2022. She is, without a doubt, one of the most intriguing supports ever introduced by Riot Games. The new support also includes a new state called Berserk, which will increase opponent attack speed while also driving them to attack anything around them, even their own teammates.
However, the devs are concerned that her W – Bailout, might resurrect teammates, which could cause problems once she is launched. As a result, the devs have offered a series of balancing suggestions in case her revive ability becomes too powerful.
Akshan and Zilean are the other League of Legends champions who have a revive ability like Renata.
Zilean’s revive ability is also his Ultimate, which has a rather lengthy cooldown, making his reviving kit stay balanced in the game. However, Akshan’s revive ability remains a threat to face, and it was only recently that the devs were able to slightly nerf it.
Renata’s revive ability is a basic skill. This implies she can use it anytime she wants. As the champion she revives only lives for a few seconds, there’s a catch. If the champion she revives kills an opponent, they are revived entirely. Otherwise, the champion will just burn through and die again. However, during that duration, the situation can be a significant concern. It is yet unknown how broken this skill will be.
So, for preparation if Bailout turns out too OP, Riot Games have suggested a list of plans to nerf it:
- Reduce the duration of Bailout’s buff to reduce the window of time the unit gets to be potentially revived
- Shorten the revived ally’s burndown period so that they burn faster, reducing the chance of them getting a takedown to stop their burn
- Make the takedown window less forgiving by requiring a dying ally to have dealt damage to an enemy within a few seconds, rather than revive off any assist
- Make the actual stat buffs bigger so that she is more tempted to buff an ally who is likely to remain alive rather than one who is near death
Riot Games stated that they will continue to watch Renata as they do with every champion, but they will be prepared if things go wrong.
