Marksmen are indirectly nerfed due to balance changes applied to crit items in the upcoming patch 11.2!!!
Because of changes in the system of crit items in season 11, almost every marksman of LoL becomes quite weaker than before. Although Riot have been looking for a way to buff this champion type, its influence on the match doesn’t seem so considerable.
In the upcoming patch 11.2, marksmen will even be indirectly nerfed when Riot Games balance crit items, such as Galeforce and Kraken Slayer. The reason why these items are nerfed is that some assassins and brawlers are now abusing them. For example, AD Katarina with Kraken Slayer or Galeforce Yone has become so popular these days. Particular information about those was published a few days ago by Mark Yetter – Gameplay Design Lead for League of Legends.
About Galeforce, what has been made it popular lately is its extremely low CD. Owning a dash with an impressive amount of damage every 60 seconds is obviously a massive advantage. You can use this item for too many cases, from outplaying, escaping from ganks to bursting damage. Updates which are mentioned above will balance this item as 30 seconds is not a small number and players will have to think more carefully before using it than before.
About Kraken Slayer, the biggest reason why this item is nerfed is that Katarina is so OP recently. With Kraken Slayer, this champion can deal a huge amount of true damage as her R – Death Lotus can activate the on-hit effect so fast. This update will not “get rid of” this meta, it just makes the Sinister Blade deal less damage than before.
All in all, most marksmen will have to choose their positions in team fights much more carefully due to this nerf as Galeforce is no longer available every time you need it like before, so you have to avoid “self-destructing” positions as often as possible. In addition, Kraken Slayer Katarina will be less frightening and marksmen like Aphelios will be lessened a lot.
