Riot is “reverting” old ARAM mechanism back due to players’ frustration

Regarding the unpopular tower rubble ARAM adjustments in League of Legends, Riot has officially issued a fix

The more informal ARAM game mode in League of Legends has undergone updates that players weren’t too fond of while Riot’s competitive game mode continues to experience various changes in the form of adjusting updates and new releases. Riot has therefore stepped forward to discuss additional information regarding the most recent changes and to disclose plans for ARAM’s future.

With Patch 12.23, there were numerous adjustments for the Howling Abyss. Additional balance adjustments, Hexgates, the Tower Rubble system, and a new area are some of these.

The Tower Rubble system is where Riot fell short, despite the fact that the adjustments were a move in the correct direction. Mobility was restricted by the Tower Rubble’s blurred sight, which was, to be honest, a frustrating feature. Riot has therefore chosen to reverse the Tower Rubble system after considering players’ feedback.

Riot recently revealed their intentions for Game Modes through 2023 in a Dev blog. Riot also provided some information regarding the current status of ARAM in addition to more details about the upcoming 2v2(v2v2) game mode.  The tower objects feature will be “strongly scaling back or outright reverting in a future patch,” according to Riot. They continued by outlining their objectives for the mode moving forward.

“We want to maintain ARAM as a fun mode for the people who play it and address issues that affect the core experience rather than continuously try and reinvent it.”

Riot also stated that while they are happy with both frostgates, they will seek to fix the teleporters if they continue to interfere with the pacing and flow of the game mode.

Riot has stated that while they are pleased with these adjustments, some characters have proven to be difficult for them to handle. In the future, Riot intends to look for even more inventive approaches to balancing the game mode.
