The Ultimate Spellbook game mode is making a return with several exciting new changes.
Game modes are a key part of the online multiplayer experience, providing a refreshing break from the standard gameplay. In League of Legends, players have multiple gamemodes to choose from. These modes are typically designed to be a fun diversion from Summoner’s Rift, especially when players are looking to have fun with friends, or take a more relaxed approach to the game.
Starting in 2023, Riot began to ramp up its efforts by releasing more innovative game modes. These include Ultimate Spellbook, Arena, and Nexus Blitz. Additionally, Riot recently launched Swarm, showing their renewed commitment to expanding the game’s variety.
Now, Riot has confirmed the return of Ultimate Spellbook, a fan-favorite mode, with several significant changes. In this article, we’ll dive into the new updates, gameplay tweaks, and release date for the mode.
Ultimate Spellbook Changes
Ultimate Spellbook is coming back with a host of fresh features. Below is an overview of the key changes players can expect:
- Choice Expansion: Instead of selecting 1 of 3 Ultimate Summoners as before, players can now choose from 1 of 4 options.
- More Ultimates: Riot has expanded the pool of champion ultimates available for selection.
- Periodic Ultimates & Re-rolls: Players will now be offered additional ultimate abilities at intervals throughout the game. Re-rolls will also be available and can be accessed through the shop (or upon death) after 8 minutes of gameplay, then every 6 minutes for the remainder of the match.
- Adjusted Jungle Camp Timers: Neutral jungle camp timers have been modified to better suit this game mode. Additionally, Auto-Smite mechanics have been fine-tuned.
- Ultimate Ammo: A brand new feature called Ultimate Ammo has been introduced. By killing major objectives like Baron, Elder Dragon, or obtaining Dragon Soul, players will earn an extra charge for their Ultimate Summoners. This allows players to cast their ultimate ability and, after a 3-second cooldown, cast it again.
Release Date
Players can look forward to experiencing the revamped Ultimate Spellbook in Patch 14.19, which is scheduled to launch on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. This patch will introduce the latest changes and enhancements to the mode.
