Despite being one of the most successful and recognizable team in the history of professional League of Legends, T1 does not have the same dominance this time around at Worlds 2021.
T1 got their tickets to Worlds as the runner-up of the LCK tournament and Korea’s 3rd seed, but you’ll know that these achievement metrics mean nothing at Worlds – where anything can happen.
In other words, it is the quality of T1’s roster is what fans are concerning right now, not the team’s pre-Worlds accomplishments.
Nemesis, a former Fnatic player who is now a streamer for Gen.G Esports, recently made a personal statement on T1’s title chances at this year’s event. When asked if Faker and his teammates had a shot of winning Worlds, Nemesis simply said, “I don’t think there’s a chance.”
Many players think that T1’s current team isn’t “mature” enough
According to Nemesis’ own reasoning, the present force of the team is not “mature” enough to win an international competition, as many other analysts have also stated. Fans have already known players in many international competitions like Faker, Teddy, Cuzz. But Cuzz, or even Teddy may be pulled out from the roster, or will merely be substituted if T1 wishes to prioritize spots for other young prospects, such as Oner, Ellim, or Gumayusi.
Canna, Oner, and Gumayusi will be performing with Faker for the first time in the worldwide arena. The aspect of experience will be a huge question mark for these people. Keria might be only person that makes fans feel most safe right now.
Many people will discarded with the fact that young prospects of the team isn’t capable of handling such big tournament with Faker. But if the Demon King himself shows the right level and T1’s young stars can confidently shine, not necessarily “no hope” like what Nemesis said.
